The SMU MBA Programme offers a number of scholarships for both Full-time and Part-time students. Students can apply for scholarships upon admission to the Programme. Award amounts range from $7,000 to $10,000 SGD. There are no bonds attached to the scholarships. Scholarships are available in the following categories:

2. Community Impact
3. Sector Interest (Family Business/Entreprenuership, Technology, Finance or Energy)
4. Academic Excellence

  • Successfully accepted into the SMU Full-time or Part-time MBA programme

DBS MBA Valedictorian Award
The Valedictorian of each SMU MBA class will be awarded a $5,000 SGD cash prize by DBS Bank Ltd.
BW Maritime Scholarships
BW Maritime is a part of the BW Group, which is one of the world's leading maritime companies involved in offshore oil and gas production and delivery of energy and other vital commodities for more than 70 years ( www.bwshipping.com ).
The BW Maritime Scholarship is targeted at SMU MBA students with experience and/or interest in the energy sector. The scholarship is for $15,000 SGD each and is bond-free.
Eligibility criteria:
  • Successfully accepted into the SMU Full-time or Part-time MBA programme
  • Open to all nationalities
  • Keen sectoral interest in the maritime/shipping/oil and gas industries
  • Strong leadership skills and outstanding character
  • Solid academic achievement
  • Special consideration given to those who demonstrate financial need
MasterCard MBA Scholarships for Women
MasterCard advances commerce worldwide by developing more secure, convenient and rewarding payment solutions, processing billions of payments seamlessly around the glob, and building economic connections that accelerate business. To encourage more female students with strong leadership potential and a passion for community service to pursue postgraduate education, MasterCard Asia shall fund up to 2 bond-free scholarships per year each worth $20,000 SGD.
Eligibility criteria:
  • Successfully accepted into the SMU Full-time or Part-time MBA programme
  • Resident in APMEA (Asia Pacific Middle East Afria)
  • Previous experience with community service and coprorate social responsibility (CSR) related work
  • Strong leadership skills and entrepreneurship skills
  • Outstanding academic achievement
  • Special consideration given to those who demonstrate financial need
SPRING Singapore 's Management Development Scholarship (MDS)
SPRING Singapore is committed to shaping Singapore 's enterprise landscape by upgrading management capabilities in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) through the Management Development Scholarship (MDS).
MDS will provide funding at the following levels:
  • Full-time MBA : SPRING will provide grant value of up to 50% of tuition fees, and other related expenses for full-time MBA scholars up to a maximum qualifying cost of $54,000. The remaining costs are borne by the sponsoring SME .
  • Part-time MBA: SPRING will provide grant value of up to 50% of tuition fees and other related expenses up to a maximum qualifying cost of $10,000 for qualified SMEs. The remaining cost are borne by the sponsoring SME .
Eligibility criteria:
  • Currently working in an SME
  • A Singapore citizen or Singapore permanent resident
  • Have 3-8 years of working experience
You will need to:
  • Apply to the SMU MBA programme and be successfully admitted.
  • Be working in an SME before embarking on the programme
  • Serve a bond of up to 2 years in the SME upon completion of your studies 
  • Co-signing

Tan Kah Kee Postgraduate Scholarship

In commemoration of the invaluable contributions made by the late philanthropist Mr Tan Kah Kee, in the field of education, the Tan Kah Kee Foundation has been awarding Postgraduate Scholarships since 1983. The scholarships are open to Singapore citizens and permanent residents who are pursuing full-time Master degree or PhD of any discipline, regardless of race or religion. Candidates are appraised on their academic achievements, outstanding personal character and bilingual capabilities. The scholarship will be awarded annually and is bond-free. 

The application is open in May every year. Shortlisted applicants will be informed to attend an interview in the month of June or July. Scholarship amount for those studying overseas or local universities are S$10,000 & S$7,000 respectively.

Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship
The Scholarship is synonymous with both prestige and a willingness to serve Singapore. It marks Singapore's continuous effort to recognise outstanding individuals with the aptitude and inclination to contribute to our society. With generous contributions from the public, the Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship Fund was set up in 1991 in honour of ex-Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

Scholars can either pursue Master's or PhD programmes at local or overseas universities. There is no restriction the course of study.

The scholarship is highly selective. Applicants must fulfil the following criteria:
  • Singapore Citizen with outstanding academic records (at least a Second Upper Class Honours Degree); and
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and be active in social, community services or sports.

Applicants who are pursuing a Master's Programme in General Management should preferably have at least 4 years of working experience. Public Officers are required to submit their applications through their Chief Executive Officers or Permanent Secretaries. 

Besides receiving this once-off sum of S$10,000, successful applicants will be given an annual allowance of S$50,000. For the annual allowance portion, the private sector awardees will receive S$50,000.  Those from the public sector will receive S$10,000.  This Scholarship does not carry any bond.

Lien Foundation Scholarship

The Lien Foundation Scholarship for Social Service Leaders is a prestigious postgraduate scholarship open to outstanding staff from voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) and members of the public. The Scholarship aims to support candidates excellent academic records, a notable performance record and potential to take up leadership positions in VWOs. Scholars can pursue the full-time or part-time SMU MBA. 

The Scholarship provides:

  • Tuition fees
  • A maintenance allowance for full-time students
  • A book allowance and other compulsory fees
Eligibility requirements:
  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Good academic results, with a good Honours degree and GCE A Level results
  • Strong track record of leadership and initiation of innovative/major projects
  • Strong commitment to the social service sector
Additional criteria for staff of VWOs:
  • Outstanding track record in social services
  • Minimum 3 years of service in a VWO
  • Strong recommendation from Executive Director/Chairman/President of the governing Board
Additional criteria for the public:
  • Possess relevant work experience (in management) with strong determination to work in the sector
  • Good track record in social or community services

Conditions of scholarship: 
Applicants must be prepared to fulfill a bond in VWOs and other social service agencies upon completion of their studies. The duration of the bond will depend on the nature and value of the scholarship.

Sampoerna Foundation - Singapore Education MBA Scholarships
The Programme aims to groom Indonesia's future business leaders. Sampoerna Foundation provides scholarships to two outstanding young Indonesians to pursue an MBA in Singapore. Upon completing the programme, scholars are expected to return to Indonesia to transfer their knowledge to their fellow citizens. Deadline for submission of Sampoerna Foundation Scholarship follows the SMU MBA application deadline.
